Millennial Marketers event

On the 28th of September I attended a millennial marketer’s event at the cape Peninsula University of Technology that was hosted by the marketing sector and was open to all 1st and 2nd year marketing students.

For first year students, the event was very beneficial due to use not really knowing what different directions we could go with marketing. This event purely helped us gain knowledge and interest in the different fields that marketing has to offer and hopefully broadened our minds on what we could do as marketers in the future.

The speakers at the event were Warren bright (Entrepreneur and social media influencer), Dylan Cromhout (marketing lecturer) and Yandile Ndlugwnana (account executive), unfortunately Xola Adons couldn’t make it to the event and was replaced by Mr Ndlugwana.

Each of the speakers studied at CPUT which made it easy for us to relate to them seeing that we are on the same path that they were on.

I unfortunately arrived a few minutes late and missed Warren Bright’s introduction and carer in marketing, but was there in time for Dylan Cromhout and Yandile Ndlugwnana.

Yandile Ndlugwnana

He is an account executive for 34 degrees Ad Agency in Cape Town. He unfortunately did not end his studies when he intended to but did not stop thriving to reach his goal no matter how long it would take him. He reminded us of how important dedication is to your craft and not giving up at your first failure. Failures and mistakes are what makes you achieve. He mentioned that building relationships within and outside your industry will be beneficial in a big way… we need to believe in our craft and take risks within any industry.

Warren Bright

He is an entrepreneur and has his own business and is an investor and business leader .He has a digital marketing agency is called SCOPE that focuses on creating social media for brands. He has worked with brands such as Cornetto, Fanta, We Chat and HelloTalk. Warren didn’t take a break after he was done with studies and immediately got his website and business up and running. The import lesson he taught us is that having good relationships with people within your industry and outside will help expand your reach with your craft. Learning new strategies from others improving your skills can benefit you in the long run when it comes to connecting with others. He also mentioned that we should try our best to stay up to date with changing trends especially in the marketing industry and more importantly with advertising.

Warren bright started his journey through the industry at a young age which benefited him in the sense of him having more than enough time to expand his business and becoming more successful than he already is. And with him being determined from the start with what direction he’d like his business to go his certainty will become a major success in the future

Dylan Cromhout

Dylan Cromhout is a marketing lecturer at the cape peninsula university if technology and entrepreneur…

Dylan Cromhout entered the marketing industry s as he was sure BOUT EHST HE WANTED TO SDO WITH HIS FUTIRE. His first intuitive was to be involved as much as possible with marketing related events and organisations. While studying he offered his time to volunteer at a marketing agency and try to get his foot in the industry as soon as possible.

Mr Cromhout advised us to always make use of the opportunities that are given. I found Mr Cromhout the most inspiring due to him focusing on getting into the industry at such a young age and creating a way for him before he was done with his studies. I am currently trying to do the same with my craft by entering the photography industry as soon as possible and I am pleased to say that I have made a name for myself and am quite well known in the industry of creatives already . if I keep up perusing my craft and getting my work to where I want to be and be and networking with the right people I am somewhat certain that I’ll get to where I want to be once I’m done with my studies .

I would like to thank everyone that organised the millennial marketer’s event.
